The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration is demanding answers from Tesla after its vehicles’ auto pilot feature allegedly failed in two separate incidents.
In May, 40-year-old Joshua Brown was killed when his Tesla Model S sedan apparently failed to distinguish a beige-colored tractor-trailer from the bright sky and did not apply the brakes. After the car passed under the trailer at full speed and its roof sheared off, it drove off the road, crashed through at least two fences, and finally slammed into a pole. Apparently, the air bag never deployed. The manufacturer has until August 28 to produce data concerning its vehicles’ Forward Collision Warning (FCW) and Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) systems. Motorcycle vs Car Accident At Fault Questioned
Investigators have yet to assign fault in a motorcycle-vehicle crash in Calcasieu Parish.
Louisiana State Police report that 46-year-old David Butts, of Sulphur, was southbound on Highway 27. As he attempted to pass the vehicle in front of him, that driver suddenly made a left turn into a private driveway and crossed directly into Mr. Butts’ path. The force of the collision launched him off his motorcycle. First responders rushed Mr. Butts to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Alcohol-Induced Fatal Crash In Sterlington
An allegedly drunk driver killed one police officer and seriously injured two others during a traffic stop on southbound Highway 165.
According to Louisiana State Police, 44-year-old Tracy Govan, of Monroe, crossed the fog line in a 2014 GMC Sierra, striking three officers who were on the scene. Officer David Elahi was declared dead at the scene; two other officers, whose names were not released, were transported to a local hospital, where they are expected to survive. Making A Federal Case Out Of It
Two Louisiana men now blame a Texas driver for the injuries they sustained in a serious car crash last year.
According to a lawsuit filed in federal court, Ronald Clauhs was stopped in a traffic lane of eastbound Interstate 10 because of a traffic jam. Shortly thereafter, Scott Liriano, of Bastrop, Tex., approached, apparently failed to stop, and collided with the vehicle at the tail end of the traffic jam that was three vehicles behind Mr. Clauhs, who was operating a car owned by Joseph Dimitri. Deadly Rollover Wreck Near Lafayette
A 9-year-old girl died in a fatal car crash in Iberville Parish.
Louisiana State Police state that 27-year-old Tommie Killough, of Livonia, was southbound on Highway 75 when he attempted to pass a vehicle that was stopped and waiting to make a left turn. During the maneuver, the stopped car proceeded into a turn and Mr. Killough struck it; after the collision, his vehicle flipped over multiple times. Asha Cooper, who was not properly restrained, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.

Victims Blame First Responder For Car Crash Injuries
Is an allegedly negligent state trooper responsible for the victims’ injuries following an Interstate 10 car crash?
According to a recent lawsuit, John Rice, Barbara Rice, and their unnamed minor child were sitting in their vehicle after a car wreck and waiting for first responders to arrive. Court documents state that Richard Reggio, a Louisiana State Police trooper that was en route to the scene, drove into an oncoming car’s pathway, causing it to veer suddenly and collide with the Rice’s stationary vehicle.
